AT24C02D EEPROM (TSSOP-8) – Antminer S19 / T19 Hashboard Repair

The AT24C02D (ATH915 / 02DMCN) is a 2 Kbit serial EEPROM in a TSSOP-8 package that stores critical calibration and configuration data on Antminer S19, S19 Pro, T19, S17, and T17 hash boards. When this chip fails or becomes corrupted, the control board can no longer read the board's identity and calibration profile — causing the hash board to show as "missing" or to report persistent ASIC errors even though the chips themselves are healthy.

Why EEPROM Corruption Happens

The most common causes are voltage spikes during hot-plug events, firmware update interruptions, and gradual wear on boards that have been reflashed thousands of times during repair cycles. Because the AT24C02D is rated for 1,000,000 write cycles and 100-year data retention, a fresh chip effectively eliminates corruption risk for the remaining service life of the hash board. If a board passes the ASIC chip scan but still will not hash, the EEPROM is one of the first components to check.

Replacement Procedure

Identify the EEPROM location on the hash board (typically near the board edge connector). Remove the failed chip with a fine-tip soldering iron or hot-air station at 280–300 °C, clean the pads, and solder the new AT24C02D observing pin-1 orientation. After replacement, the EEPROM will need to be programmed with the correct board serial number and calibration data — use the miner's built-in re-initialisation routine or a dedicated I²C programmer. Verify the board is detected and hashing normally before reinstalling in the chassis.
