Antminer 18V DC Booster Module – S19 / S19+ / T19 / S19pro / S19XP / S21 Hashboard Repair
This 18V DC boost module is the small step-up converter board that lifts the hashboard's auxiliary rail to the level needed by the chip-driver and gate-driver circuits on Antminer S19, S19+, T19, S19pro, S19XP and S21 hashboards. When this booster fails, the hashboard reports drive-fault errors, refuses to enable one or more domains, or dies on first power-up after an otherwise successful chip-rework — even though the buck converters and ASICs themselves test fine. Replacing the booster module on the affected hashboard restores the gate drive and brings the board back to nominal hashrate.
Where the Booster Sits and How It Fails
The boost module sits adjacent to the chip-driver section of the hashboard and converts the local 12V rail up to 18V to feed gate drivers and a few housekeeping circuits. It typically fails from a sustained overcurrent (often caused by a downstream short), from a single transient, or as a secondary casualty after a primary domain failure. Visible signs are scorched marks on the small inductor or the boost IC, an out-of-spec reading on the 18V rail, and the kernel log throwing driver-faults across multiple chips simultaneously. Once the upstream short or transient cause is cleared, swapping the booster restores normal operation.
Replacement Procedure
Power off the miner and isolate. Remove the affected hashboard. Inspect the booster footprint for short circuits across the input — clear any short before mounting a new module, otherwise the replacement will fail in seconds. Desolder the failed booster (hot air or soldering iron, depending on the module style), clean the pads, place the new 18V booster respecting the orientation silkscreen, and re-flow. Verify the 18V rail is in spec on a bench supply before reinstalling the hashboard in the miner.
