The 1R80 SMD 1206 resistor is a 1.8 Ω ± 1 %, 1/4 W chip resistor used across Antminer S19 and S19 XP hashboards in current-sense, gate-drive and protection positions around the Vcore regulation loops. When one of these tiny parts opens or drifts, the symptom on the miner side is usually a chain that will not come up, a Vcore rail that reads out of spec, or a chip string that trips protection at high hashrate. Diagnosing a Bad 1R80 on an S19 / S19 XP Hashboard

Typical failure mode: a discrete 1R80 reads open or drifted well outside its 1 % band after a local over-current event (for example, a blown power stage has driven current through the sense line). On the miner, this often shows as a chain that refuses to scan, a Vcore point out of spec, or a repeatable fault in one specific section of the board. Measure in-circuit first; if the reading is ambiguous, lift one end with hot air and measure again before replacing.

Rework Notes

1206 is forgiving to rework with a fine tip at ~320 °C and leaded solder. Clean the pads, tin lightly, place the new 1R80 with tweezers, and reflow each end. Re-test Vcore under low load before re-energising the full chain. Because these resistors sit on rails that can fail catastrophically, always re-check the surrounding MOSFETs and drivers — a blown driver will take the replacement 1R80 with it on the next boot.
