G1238C12B8ZP-C1 Nidec 120mm Cooling Fan – 6000 RPM Replacement for Antminer S9 & L3+

The G1238C12B8ZP-C1 is a Nidec-manufactured 120 × 120 × 38 mm axial cooling fan rated at 12 V / 1.85 A, spinning up to 6,000 RPM with ball bearing construction. It features a 4-pin PWM connector for speed control and tachometer feedback, allowing the firmware to adjust fan speed based on chip temperatures. Designed as a direct drop-in for the Antminer S9 and L3+, it also fits other miners using the standard 120 × 38 mm 4-pin form factor.

Why Nidec Ball-Bearing Fans Last Longer

Mining fans run at maximum RPM for months without interruption. Sleeve-bearing fans are cheaper but their lubricant evaporates under heat and constant rotation, causing the bearing to seize. Ball-bearing designs use hardened steel balls in a race, providing a wear surface that lasts significantly longer under continuous duty. The result is more consistent airflow, quieter operation over the fan's lifetime, and fewer unplanned replacements.

Installation

Power off the miner and unplug the old fan's 4-pin connector from the control board header. Remove the four corner screws and slide the fan out. Insert the new G1238C12B8ZP-C1 with the airflow arrow pointing correctly — the S9 uses a push-pull configuration with intake and exhaust fans on opposite ends of the heatsink stack. Secure with screws, connect the 4-pin cable, and power on. Confirm a stable RPM reading and normal chip temperatures in the dashboard.
