GBJ1508 Bridge Rectifier Diode | 15A 800V Glass Passivated Bridge for Power Supply Repair

The GBJ1508 is a 15A 800V single-phase glass-passivated bridge rectifier diode in the GBJ package — the AC-to-DC bridge rectifier on the primary side of most ASIC PSU designs. Replacing the bridge is the standard recovery path when a PSU draws AC input but produces no DC bus voltage (one or more diodes in the bridge are shorted).

The glass-passivated mold structure provides enhanced durability and environmental protection. 1500VRMS case dielectric strength, 240A peak surge overload tolerance, low reverse leakage. Standard PSU primary-side rectifier with strong margin for typical 220-240VAC mining input.

When to Replace the GBJ1508

  • PSU draws AC input but DC bus is dead — one or more diodes in the bridge shorted.
  • Multimeter diode-test across input/output shows incorrect drop or short.
  • Visible damage on the bridge body — burnt, cracked, or discolored.
  • Fuse blew on AC input after surge event — bridge typically the next part to inspect.

FAQ — GBJ1508 Bridge Rectifier

Q: How do I test the bridge?
A: Power off and discharge the PSU bulk caps. Multimeter in diode-test mode: probe between each AC input pin and each DC output pin. A healthy bridge shows ~0.6-0.7V forward in the proper direction and OL reverse. A shorted diode shows ~0V both ways; an open shows OL both ways. Any failed junction means replace the whole bridge.

Q: Can I substitute a higher-current bridge?
A: Yes — substituting a 25A or 35A bridge with the same 800V+ rating and same package footprint is safe and gives more thermal margin. Check the mounting hole pattern and pin layout match before placing.

Q: 800V vs 1000V rating — does it matter?
A: For 220-240VAC mining input, 800V is sufficient (peak ~340V × √2 = 480V worst case, well below 800V). 1000V variants offer more margin against transient surges but aren't strictly required.
