HF32F-G/012-HS High-Power Relay 10A 12V – Whatsminer Control Board & PSU Repair

The HF32F-G/012-HS is a 10A SPDT power relay from Hongfa with a 12VDC coil, used on Whatsminer control boards and on certain Whatsminer-spec PSU auxiliary boards for inrush limiting, AC-side switching and standby control. Coil resistance is roughly 360Ω, contact rating is 10A at 250VAC / 30VDC, and the relay is supplied in a sealed PCB through-hole housing rated for 10⁵ electrical operations at full load.

Where the HF32F Sits on a Whatsminer Board

On Whatsminer control board variants and some PSU auxiliary boards, the HF32F-G/012-HS handles the AC inrush bypass — at power-on the inrush passes through an NTC, and once the bulk caps are charged the relay closes to short the NTC out of circuit. A failed relay either fails to close (NTC stays in series, the miner runs warm and underpowered) or fails closed (no inrush limiting, fuse blows on next cold start).

Replacement Procedure

Disconnect the board from mains and let the bulk caps discharge. Identify the failed relay — burnt smell, contact resistance > 200mΩ on closed contacts, or no audible click on coil energise are all confirming signs. Desolder the through-hole pins (5 pins typically), clean the holes, and fit the new HF32F-G/012-HS in the same orientation as the silkscreen. Solder all pins, verify continuity on coil and contacts with a multimeter, and bench-power the board before reinstalling.
