MAX15026BETD Synchronous Buck Controller – DC-DC Step-Down for Mining Hardware
The MAX15026BETD by Analog Devices / Maxim is a synchronous step-down (buck) controller accepting 4.5–28V input and delivering an adjustable output from 85% Vin down to 0.6V at up to 25A load. Switching frequency is adjustable from 200kHz to 2MHz via external resistor. The controller features adaptive synchronous rectification (no external Schottky required), monotonic soft-start, current sensing via low-side MOSFET Rds(on), and operates from -40°C to 85°C in a 14-WFDFN package.
Role in Mining Hardware
Buck controllers on hashboards and PSU auxiliary circuits generate the low-voltage rails that feed ASIC chips, processors and peripheral logic. A failed controller causes its output rail to collapse — the downstream components lose power and the miner reports errors or fails to boot. The MAX15026's wide input range and adjustable frequency make it suitable for a variety of mining hardware voltage regulation positions.
Replacement Procedure
Locate the failed MAX15026 near the affected voltage rail. Desolder the 14-WFDFN package with hot air, clean pads, install the new device with pin 1 aligned and reflow. Verify the output voltage matches the expected rail level before reconnecting downstream components.
