RZ12038H12B 120mm 6000 RPM DC Brushless Fan – High-Speed Cooling for ASIC Miners

The RZ12038H12B is a 120 × 38 mm axial DC brushless fan rated at 12 V / 2.7 A, spinning up to 6,000 RPM to deliver the aggressive airflow that ASIC miners demand. It features a 6-pin dual connector interface providing both power and tachometer feedback, enabling the miner control board to monitor fan speed and trigger alarms if the fan stalls or slows below threshold. Built by Rui Zhan, this fan is designed as a direct drop-in replacement for 120 mm cooling positions on a wide range of Bitcoin, Litecoin and other crypto mining rigs.

When to Replace a Mining Fan

Cooling fans in mining hardware run at high RPM continuously, and bearing wear is the primary failure mode. Early symptoms include increased noise — a grinding or rattling sound — followed by reduced airflow as the bearings lose preload and the rotor wobbles. The miner firmware may report fan speed fluctuations or trigger "fan lost" alarms as the tachometer signal becomes intermittent. In hot environments, a single underperforming fan can raise board temperatures enough to throttle hash rate or trigger protective shutdowns, costing revenue every hour the issue persists.

Installation Guide

Power off the miner and unplug the fan's 6-pin connector from the control board or fan hub. Remove the four corner mounting screws and slide the old fan out of the chassis. Insert the new RZ12038H12B with the airflow arrow pointing in the correct direction — most ASIC miners use a push-pull configuration where intake fans blow inward and exhaust fans blow outward through the heatsink stack. Secure with the mounting screws, reconnect the 6-pin cable, and power on. Verify in the miner dashboard that the fan reports a stable RPM reading close to the target speed set by the firmware.
