ESP-12F WiFi Module | ESP8266 UART-to-WiFi Wireless Transparent Transmission for IoT & Embedded Designs
The ESP-12F WiFi Module is a compact 24 × 16 × 3 mm ESP8266-based wireless transceiver for UART-to-WiFi bridging, IoT nodes, and embedded WiFi designs. Onboard PCB antenna, FCC / CE / RoHS / SRRC certified, and a complete protocol stack on-chip — drop it into a design and you have a 2.4GHz WiFi link without a separate MCU+radio architecture.
Bridges asynchronous serial data to a TCP/IP wireless link with a maximum transmission rate of 4 608 000 bps and a typical line-of-sight range of up to 80 metres. Multi-protocol GPIO support (UART, GPIO, ADC, PWM, SPI) lets it act as either a transparent-bridge slave or a fully autonomous node running its own application firmware.
Typical Use Cases
- Smart-home & home-automation hubs — sensor, lighting, and HVAC node connectivity.
- Industrial IoT — UART-to-WiFi gateways for legacy serial equipment.
- Remote monitoring & control — telemetry uplink from low-power embedded devices.
- Smart agriculture & environmental sensing — wireless soil / climate node deployment.
- Wireless sensor networks — mesh / star topologies with ESP8266 endpoints.

FAQ — ESP-12F WiFi Module
Q: ESP-12F vs ESP-07 — which one do I want?
A: ESP-12F has the integrated PCB antenna and is the more common general-purpose part. ESP-07 has the ceramic antenna footprint with an optional external IPEX connector — pick ESP-07 when the host enclosure blocks RF and you need to route an external antenna.
Q: ESP-12F vs ESP32 modules — when should I move up?
A: ESP-12F is ESP8266-based (single-core, no Bluetooth, ~80 KB usable RAM). ESP32 modules add dual-core, Bluetooth LE, larger RAM, and AI accelerators. Stay on ESP-12F for cost-sensitive WiFi-only nodes; move to ESP32 when the project needs BLE, more memory, or higher compute.
Q: 3.3V supply — does it tolerate 5V on the UART lines?
A: No. The ESP8266 I/O is 3.3V logic; sustained 5V on the RX line will degrade or destroy the input buffer. Use a level shifter or resistor divider when bridging to a 5V host MCU.
Q: Bulk pricing for OEM / production runs?
