HY880 Thermal Grease 30g – High Thermal Conductivity for Miner Hashboard Maintenance
The HY880 is a 30g thermal interface compound formulated with metal oxide fillers and imported silicone oil, delivering a thermal conductivity of over 5.15 W/(m·K). It is designed for professional electronics cooling where stable, long-lasting heat transfer between heat-generating components and heatsinks is critical. Why Thermal Conductivity Matters in Mining
ASIC chips in crypto miners generate significant heat under sustained 24/7 load, and the thermal interface between the chip and the heatsink is the bottleneck that determines how efficiently that heat is removed. A thermal paste with poor conductivity or one that has dried out creates a thermal barrier that raises chip junction temperatures, leading to throttling, reduced hash rate and shortened chip lifespan. The HY880's 5.15 W/(m·K) rating places it firmly in the mid-to-high performance range, providing excellent heat transfer for mining applications without the premium cost of liquid metal compounds that can be corrosive to aluminium heatsinks.
Application Guide
Remove the old thermal paste from both the chip surface and the heatsink contact area using isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth. Apply a thin, even layer of HY880 to the chip surface — for ASIC chips, a stencil is recommended to control thickness and prevent paste from spilling onto surrounding components. For CPUs and GPUs, a small dot in the centre of the die works well, as the heatsink mounting pressure will spread it evenly. Reinstall the heatsink and tighten the mounting hardware in a cross pattern to ensure uniform clamping pressure. The paste reaches its optimal thermal performance after a few thermal cycles as it fills any remaining microscopic air gaps.
The HY880 remains stable at temperatures up to 340 °C instantaneously and within the recommended working range of 30–280 °C for continuous operation. It is non-toxic, odourless and electrically insulating, so any minor spillage onto PCB traces or components will not cause short circuits.
