MMBD2004S KA9/KAE SMD Switching Diode – Whatsminer Control Board Repair
The MMBD2004S-7-F (marking KA9 or KAE) is a fast-switching SMD diode in a SOT-23 package, used on Whatsminer control boards for signal routing and protection functions. Its fast switching speed and compact form factor make it suitable for automated assembly and board-level repair. New original component.
When to Replace
A failed switching diode on the control board can cause signal path issues — the miner may fail to communicate with hashboards, produce intermittent errors or refuse to boot. The SOT-23 package is small and easily damaged during adjacent component rework. Verify failure with a multimeter in diode mode before replacing.
Replacement Procedure
Locate the failed MMBD2004S on the control board — marked KA9 or KAE in SOT-23 format. Desolder with a fine-tip iron or hot air at 280–310°C, clean pads, place the new device observing polarity and reflow. Verify normal board operation after reinstallation.
