About the Product

Whatsminer KF1973 / KF1973E Tin Tool Kit – Stencil & Holder for M50 / M53 ASIC Chip Repair

This KF1973 / KF1973E tin tool kit includes a laser-cut stainless steel stencil and a matching ESD-safe stabilising holder for precision solder paste application on Whatsminer M50, M50S and M53 ASIC chips. The stencil's aperture pattern matches the BGA pad layout of the KF1973E chip exactly, enabling uniform tin deposition in a single pass — eliminating bridging, cold joints and the uneven coverage that causes chip failures after reflow.

Why Precision Tinning Matters

Replacing an ASIC chip on a Whatsminer hashboard requires depositing a controlled layer of solder paste on every BGA pad before placing the new chip. Freehand application is unreliable — too much paste causes bridging between pads, too little creates voids and cold joints. A precision stencil ensures every aperture receives the correct paste volume, producing consistent solder joints across the entire BGA array. The ESD-safe holder prevents electrostatic discharge from damaging the chip during handling, which is a real risk given the sensitivity of modern mining ASICs.

How to Use the Kit

Secure the new ASIC chip in the ESD-safe holder with the pad side facing up. Align the stencil over the chip so that the apertures register with the BGA pads. Apply solder paste across the stencil surface with a squeegee or spatula in a single pass. Lift the stencil vertically to leave clean paste deposits on each pad. Place the chip on the prepared hashboard footprint and reflow. The laser-cut apertures produce clean edges that release the paste cleanly, minimising smearing.
