LM75A Digital Temperature Sensor for Antminer + Whatsminer Hashboards
The LM75A is a high-precision digital temperature sensor IC designed for Antminer S19, S19 Pro+ Hydro, L9 and Whatsminer hashboards. The reliable I²C 2-wire interface delivers 9-bit digital temperature readings — vital input for the miner's thermal management loop and hashboard throttling logic.
Wide operating range from -55 °C to +125 °C covers the full mining thermal envelope. Up to 8 devices on a single 2-wire bus via I²C address selection — scalable for multi-hashboard chassis with distributed temperature monitoring.
Typical Failure Modes Solved
Bogus temperature readings — miner logs report 0 °C or 125 °C constantly.
Thermal-throttle stuck on — control board derates hashboard incorrectly.
Sensor not ACK on I²C bus — chip dead after a thermal event.
Production refurbishment — bulk sensor stock for hashboard rework lines.
Q: LM75 vs LM75A — interchangeable? A: Functionally similar; LM75A has tighter accuracy + wider supply range. For OEM-spec repair, match the silk marking exactly.
Q: 9-bit resolution enough for hashboard? A: 9-bit gives 0.5 °C resolution — plenty for thermal-throttle decisions. Higher-resolution sensors (12-bit TMP102 etc.) exist when finer measurement is needed.
