The BM2042AA tin fixture is a precision alignment jig and stencil tool for replacing BM2042AA chips on Antminer K7 hashboards. It clamps the bare chip in the correct orientation, aligns its pads with the matching stencil openings, and lets you apply a controlled, even bead of leaded solder paste before reflow. The result: clean, repeatable joints with no bridging, no shorts, no missed pads — which is the difference between a board that comes back to full hash and one that comes back at 80%.

Why a Dedicated Tin Fixture for K7

The K7 uses BM2042AA chips with a tight pad pitch and a precise solder volume window. Hand-applying paste rarely hits that window — too much paste bridges adjacent pads (creating shorts that show as shorted-chip symptoms after reflow), too little paste leaves cold joints (intermittent hash drops as the board warms up). The dedicated fixture removes the variability: every chip gets the same paste volume in the same place.

Use

Place the BM2042AA chip into the fixture's chip pocket, top-side up. Lower the matching stencil plate over the chip pads — the fixture aligns it precisely. Apply leaded solder paste with a squeegee across the stencil openings, lift the stencil straight up, and remove the chip. The chip now has perfectly placed paste deposits; transfer it to the hashboard pad area and reflow at 320°C. Re-test on the K7 fixture before reassembly.
