The G337 T520V337M004ATE012 is a 2 V tantalum polymer electrolytic capacitor used across Antminer and Iceriver hashboards (including S19XP, Iceriver KS3L and related designs). It combines low ESR, high ripple-current capability, and long service life — the exact profile required for filtering tight-tolerance low-voltage rails that feed ASIC chips at their Vcore input. When one fails, the hashboard typically drops chips, shows localised heat on the rail around the capacitor, or fails to scan. Direct replacement restores the rail and returns the chain to full chip count.

Diagnosing a Failed G337 on the Hashboard

Typical symptoms: hashboard reports dropped or short chips along one chain, thermal camera shows a hotspot over the Vcore input capacitor bank, a shorted tantalum can read near 0 Ω across its pads, or visible discolouration / cratering on the part body. Before replacement, verify the short is the capacitor itself rather than a downstream chip pulling the rail low. Once confirmed, desolder the failed part, clean the pads, replace with a genuine G337, and retest the chain.

Why Tantalum Polymer on Vcore

Low-voltage ASIC rails carry high transient currents and need very low ESR to keep voltage ripple within the chip's tolerance window. Tantalum polymer caps like the T520 series give the required ripple/ESR performance in a small footprint, which is why Bitmain and Iceriver designed them into the hashboard Vcore filters. Substituting a lower-grade aluminium electrolytic generally causes chain instability under load.
