About the Product

Goldshell AP280 Power Supply Unit | New 2800W PSU for HS5, CK5, and KD5 Miners

The Goldshell AP280 power supply is the brand-new OEM-spec PSU for the Goldshell HS5, CK5, and KD5 miners. Acting as the "heart" of these miners, the AP280 filters and transforms mains AC into the clean, regulated DC rails the hashboards need — and a degraded PSU translates directly into instability, intermittent shutdowns, or complete miner failure. Replacing the AP280 with a fresh unit restores miner operation to factory spec.

The main rail delivers 14.5V-21V DC at 170A (rated 2800W at 220V input) with ripple and noise under 1%, while a secondary 12.3V / 12A auxiliary rail powers the control board, fans, and indicator LEDs. The AC input accepts the standard 200-240VAC at 47-63Hz, with power factor >0.99 at full load — efficient by design and friendly to mining-farm power distribution.

When to Replace the Goldshell AP280 PSU

  • "get power id failed" error in the CK5 / KD5 / HS5 kernel log — diagnostic signature of an AP280 PSU failure where the miner controller cannot identify the PSU on startup.
  • HS5 / CK5 / KD5 miner won't start — fans spin briefly then PSU shuts down with no hashboard activation.
  • Repeated overcurrent / overvoltage shutdowns reported in miner controller logs.
  • Audible chatter on power-up or buzzing transformer — sign of internal PSU failure.
  • Hashboards drop offline mid-mining while temperatures remain in normal range — rail instability.
  • Visible damage on original PSU — burn marks (often at the AC inlet connector from arc events), swollen capacitors, cracked PCB.

FAQ — Goldshell AP280 Power Supply

Q: Will the AP280 work on a 110VAC line?
A: No — the input range is 200-240VAC only. North American mining setups typically use 240VAC service for this reason. If you only have 110VAC service, you'll need a step-up transformer before the PSU.

Q: How do I confirm the PSU has failed vs the miner mainboard?
A: Disconnect the PSU from the miner and measure the rails with a multimeter — some PSUs require a load to start, others self-test. If both rails read normal voltage, the failure is downstream on the mainboard or control board. If outputs are missing or wrong, the PSU has failed.

Q: Can I use the AP280 on a KD6 or HS6 miner?
A: The AP280 is specified for the HS5 / CK5 / KD5 power envelope. Newer 6-generation Goldshell miners typically require a different PSU model with different power output spec — confirm before ordering.

Q: What's the typical service life under continuous mining duty?
A: At continuous full-load operation in a typical 30-35°C ambient mining environment, expect 18-36 months MTBF on the PSU. Output bulk capacitor aging is the most common end-of-life failure mode.

Q: Bulk pricing for repair shops or farms?
A: Yes — email contact@lys-sz.com for volume pricing on Goldshell PSU stock.
