LTV-5341-TP1-L Optocoupler – Isolated Gate Driver for Antminer APW12 Power Supply Repair
The LTV-5341-TP1-L is an isolated gate-driver optocoupler used in Antminer APW12 1215 power supplies to drive primary-side MOSFETs. It delivers 3.0 A peak output with a 150 ns maximum propagation delay, providing fast gate drive signals for high-frequency switching. The 30 kV/µs common-mode rejection keeps the signal immune to voltage transients, while built-in UVLO prevents the MOSFET from being driven with insufficient gate voltage.
Failure Modes in Mining PSUs
Gate-driver optocouplers endure continuous high-frequency switching stress. Over time the internal LED emitter degrades, reducing output and increasing propagation delay. This manifests as soft MOSFET turn-on, intermittent PSU shutdowns or outright failure to start. A voltage spike from a MOSFET failure can also punch through the isolation barrier, destroying the optocoupler entirely. Because the APW12 uses multiple power stages, a single failed driver can take down the entire PSU.
Replacement Procedure
Disconnect the PSU from mains and wait for bulk capacitors to discharge — primary-side voltages remain lethal for several minutes. Locate the LTV-5341 near the gate transformer or adjacent to the primary MOSFET. Desolder the device, noting pin 1 orientation. Clean pads with solder wick, position the new LTV-5341-TP1-L with pin 1 aligned, and solder each pin. After reassembly, power through a variac and verify the output ramps up smoothly under load. The device operates from -40 °C to +110 °C and supports 15–30 V supply rails.
