NVMFS5C404N N-Channel MOSFET 40V 378A – Bitmain APW7 PSU Repair
The NVMFS5C404N (marking 5C404N) is an N-channel power MOSFET rated at 40V / 378A (900A pulse) in a compact 5×6mm DFN package. It delivers 200W power dissipation, 907mJ single-pulse avalanche energy and ultra-low Rds(on) for minimal conduction losses. AEC-Q101 automotive qualified, lead-free, RoHS compliant. Used on the secondary side of the Bitmain APW7 power supply for high-current synchronous rectification.
Why This MOSFET Suits the APW7
The APW7 uses synchronous rectification on its secondary side to convert the transformer output into the low-voltage, high-current DC rail that feeds the miner. The NVMFS5C404N's 378A continuous rating and ultra-low Rds(on) minimise rectification losses at the heavy currents involved. The 907mJ avalanche rating protects against the voltage spikes that occur during commutation — critical for reliability in a PSU running 24/7.
Replacement Procedure
Disconnect mains and discharge all capacitors. Locate the NVMFS5C404N on the secondary rectification board — a 5×6mm DFN package near the output inductor. Desolder with hot air at 320–350°C, clean all pads, place the new device with pin 1 aligned and reflow. Test through a variac under progressive load and verify clean output voltage with no oscillation.
