The PW180N65WS is an N-channel MOSFET rated at 650V / 18A in a DFN8×8 package, used on the Antminer S19 Hydro hashboard for high-voltage power switching in the ASIC chip distribution circuit. It handles the voltage conversion and switching demands specific to the hydro-cooled S19 platform. New original component for direct board-level replacement.

Why This MOSFET Fails on S19 Hydro Hashboards

The S19 Hydro runs at sustained high wattage without thermal throttling — the liquid cooling removes heat efficiently, but the electrical components still carry full current continuously. Over thousands of hours, thermal cycling and sustained current stress degrade the MOSFET, increasing Rds(on) and eventually causing failure. A failed device either cuts power to its chip group or shorts, damaging the surrounding trace.

Replacement Procedure

Remove the hashboard from the cooling manifold. Locate the failed PW180N65WS — the DFN8×8 package is near the power distribution path. Verify failure with a multimeter. Desolder with hot air at 320–350°C, clean pads with solder wick, place the new device with pin 1 aligned and reflow. Verify proper resistance readings, reinstall in the cooling loop and confirm full chip detection.
