About the Product

SLM21814 High-Voltage MOSFET / IGBT Driver | 600V Half-Bridge Driver with Bootstrap

The SLM21814 is a high-voltage, high-speed MOSFET / IGBT half-bridge driver with independent high-side and low-side output channels. The floating channel is designed for bootstrap operation up to 600V, making it a workhorse driver for PSU half-bridge / full-bridge topologies, motor control, and high-power inverter applications.

Key features: gate-drive supply 10V-20V, undervoltage lockout (UVLO) for both channels, 3.3V and 5V logic-compatible inputs, CMOS Schmitt-trigger input with pull-down, matched propagation delay across both channels, output in phase with input. High pulse-current buffer stage minimizes cross-conduction; latch-immune CMOS construction handles negative transients and high dV/dt.

When to Replace the SLM21814

  • PSU half-bridge stage stops switching — gate-drive signals dead at both high-side and low-side MOSFET gates.
  • One channel asymmetric / weak — driver partially failed, switching imbalance burns the MOSFETs over time.
  • Visible damage on the driver chip — burnt or cracked package.
  • UVLO trip cascade — driver mis-reporting supply voltage.

FAQ — SLM21814 Driver IC

Q: How do I confirm the driver is the failed part?
A: Probe the high-side and low-side gate-drive output pins with a 100MHz scope while the PSU controller is trying to start. A healthy driver produces clean rail-to-rail square waves matching the controller's PWM input. No output, stuck-high / stuck-low, or asymmetric channels = failed driver.

Q: VCC range — is the 10-20V critical?
A: Yes. The driver needs at least 10V VCC for the low-side gate drive to be in a safe operating range; below this the UVLO trips. Above 20V you risk damage. Match the original PSU's gate-drive supply rail.

Q: Rework profile?
A: Most SLM21814 variants ship in SOP-14 or DIP-14. Match the package on your board. Hot-air SMD rework at 320°C for the SOP-14; through-hole desoldering for DIP-14.
