The BA1U is a 0.8 V fixed-output LDO for the low-voltage power distribution circuits on Antminer L7, S19XP, S21, T21 and S19j Pro hashboards. It accepts 1.6–5.5 V input, delivers 500 mA at 0.8 V with 74 dB PSRR at 1 kHz, and includes thermal shutdown and current limiting. The fast output discharge feature prevents latch-up conditions on ASIC chips during power cycling. Often paired with BA2X in Bitmain power distribution designs.
Why LDO Regulators Fail on Hashboards
LDOs on hashboards supply the ASIC chip I/O and logic rails under continuous maximum-current load. Repeated thermal cycling weakens the die-attach solder and bond wires. A failed LDO causes the board to report missing chips, produce abnormal temperature readings, or drop out of detection entirely. Even a slight voltage deviation on the 0.8 V rail can cause communication errors between control board and hashboard.
Replacement Procedure
Remove the hashboard and locate the failed BA1U near the ASIC chip power distribution section. Verify 0 V or out-of-spec output with a multimeter to confirm failure. Desolder with hot air at 300–330 °C, clean pads with solder wick, align the new chip to the silkscreen, and reflow. Verify 0.8 V (±2 %) output on a bench supply, then reinstall the board and confirm full chip detection and normal hash rate in the dashboard.
