CM6901X LLC + SR Resonant Controller – High-Efficiency Mining PSU Repair

The CM6901XISTR (CM6901X) is an SRC/LLC resonant controller with integrated synchronous rectification (SR) for offline DC-DC conversion. It features light-load PWM mode, SR Ideal Diode PWM for improved efficiency below the resonant frequency, a precision 2.5V VFB feedback reference, dual gate drivers (12V peak), integrated soft-start with shutdown, and auto-restart during current-limit conditions. Operates across both SRC and LLC frequency regions.

Why Use an Integrated LLC+SR Controller

Combining the LLC resonant controller and synchronous rectification driver into a single IC simplifies the PSU design and reduces component count. The CM6901X's light-load PWM function improves efficiency at low loads — important in mining PSUs that cycle between full hash rate and idle states. When this controller fails, the PSU produces no output or oscillates erratically.

Replacement Procedure

Disconnect mains and discharge all capacitors. Locate the CM6901X on the primary control board. Desolder, clean pads, install with pin 1 aligned and reflow. If controller failure caused MOSFET damage, replace those as well. Power through a variac under progressive load.
