About the Product

T250 Gold Crystal Oscillator – Antminer & Iceriver Hashboard Clock Source

The T250 is a 25MHz gold-plated SMD crystal oscillator in a 3.2×2.5mm 4-pad ceramic package, used as the master clock source on Antminer S19/S21/T21 series and Iceriver KS-series hashboards. It generates the reference clock that the BM ASIC chips multiply up to their internal hashing frequency. When this oscillator drifts, fails, or solders cold, the entire hashboard reports zero hash even though all chips and rails look healthy on a multimeter.

Why the T250 Is a High-Yield Repair Target

Crystal oscillators are mechanically fragile and one of the few parts on a hashboard that can fail without any visual sign. A common scenario: a board comes back from a freight haul reading 0 GH/s, all chips test fine on the fixture, all rails are nominal — the failure is the T250 has cracked internally and is producing no clock or a slightly off-frequency clock. Replacing it is a 5-minute job and recovers a board that would otherwise be scrapped.

Replacement Procedure

Pre-heat the board to 130°C. Locate the T250 (typically near the BM chip chain entry — refer to the board silkscreen marked OSC or X1). Remove the failed crystal with hot air at 280-300°C using a small precision nozzle, lifting straight up to avoid cracking the ceramic body. Clean the four pads with flux. Place the new T250 with pin 1 (typically marked by a dot or beveled corner) aligned to the silkscreen, reflow at 280°C for 10-12 seconds. Re-test on the fixture and confirm the chip count returns.
