About the Product

APW17 PSU Tester – Bitmain Antminer Power Supply Fault Detection

The APW17 PSU tester lets you verify the output of Bitmain's latest-generation power supply — the APW17 — without connecting it to a control board or hash board. Plug the PSU into the tester, apply mains power, and read the voltage on each output rail. If the PSU is the problem, you know immediately; if the rails read within spec, the fault is inside the miner. This eliminates the time-consuming "swap and test" method and keeps your operational miners in production instead of on the repair bench.

What Is Included

The kit ships with the tester host unit, a DC 12 V adapter for powering the tester's own logic, and a 4-pin cable that connects the APW17's output to the tester. Setup takes under a minute — connect the cable, plug in the adapter, connect the APW17 to mains, and read the display. The tester's interface follows the same logic as the APW12 tester (refer to the APW12 Tester User Manual for detailed operating instructions).

When to Use the APW17 Tester

Use this tester any time a S21 or S19JXP miner (or any model powered by the APW17) will not start, shuts down intermittently, or reports undervoltage warnings in the firmware log. It is also valuable for incoming-goods inspection: test every new or refurbished APW17 before deploying it to a production slot. Catching a defective PSU at the receiving dock is far cheaper than diagnosing a non-hashing miner on the floor.

Integrating the Tester into a Repair Workflow

In a high-volume shop, assign a dedicated station for PSU testing. When a miner comes in for diagnosis, pull the PSU first and run it through the tester. Good PSUs go into the "cleared" bin; failed PSUs get tagged with the faulty rail and routed to board-level repair or replacement. This triage step typically halves the average diagnostic time because it immediately separates PSU faults from miner-side faults.
