LAN8710A-EZC-TR Ethernet PHY Transceiver – Antminer C52 Control Board Repair
The LAN8710A-EZC-TR is a low-power 10/100 Ethernet PHY transceiver used on the Antminer C52 control board to provide network connectivity between the miner and the pool. It supports full-duplex 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX with automatic speed and duplex negotiation, interfacing with the processor via MII or RMII bus. LVCMOS I/O operates from +1.6 V to +3.6 V, matching the low-voltage logic on Bitmain control boards.
Symptoms of a Failed Ethernet PHY
When the LAN8710A fails, the miner loses network connectivity entirely — no pool connection, no dashboard access, no link LED activity. In partial-failure cases, the miner may establish a link but drop packets at a high rate, causing frequent pool disconnections and rejected shares. Always verify the cable and switch port with another device first. If the RJ45 link LEDs stay dark with a known-good cable, the PHY chip is the likely culprit.
Replacement Procedure
Remove the control board from the miner. Locate the LAN8710A near the RJ45 jack — a small QFN package with the Microchip marking. Apply flux and use hot air at 350–380 °C to remove the chip. Clean pads with solder wick, align the new device with pin 1 to the board marking, and reflow. Verify solder joints under magnification, then reinstall the board, connect Ethernet and confirm the miner obtains an IP address. The chip includes automatic polarity detection and latch-up protection exceeding 150 mA per channel.
